There is always something happening. There is always something fun. There is always advocacy to be done. There is always a need to raise money. I call to your attention this Open Mic Night announcement from the National Federation of the Blind Denver Chapter. Let your friends and colleagues know about this fun annual fundraising event.

The Denver chapter is excited to announce that its open mic night will take place this year on Saturday, April 12 at 6 PM. It will be hosted at the Colorado Center for the blind, 2233 W. Shepperd Ave in Littleton.

Those who have attended in the past know that this is a hot ticket and only a limited number will be sold. We will release the link to RSVP in the coming weeks. Each ticket is $30 and includes two drink tickets, a hot meal, dessert, and a five minute performance spot if you would like. Do you like to perform? Sing? Fancy yourself a comedian? Write or love to share poetry? Start practicing because your friends are ready to be entertained!

Drink tickets will only be provided to those 21 years of age or older, and includes your choice of beer, wine, seltzer, and this year we will be adding Jell-O shots! Non-alcoholic drinks are unlimited.

This is exciting! Many people think that blond and low-vision individuals can't play or don’t enjoy games. But many do. I think more would if they were encouraged and taught at an early age when their families gather for games. I was always discouraged by our family game nights. When I got older, I just didn’t seem to have the acumen. I felt out of place and frustrated. But, I have since known many blind folks whose families took the time to make them a big part of board games and card games. Just like their non blind children. Here is an announcement from the Colorado Center for the Blind Alumni Association. Spread the word!
